It’s May 4th Again. Happy Star Wars Day!
2013 was another very interesting year for video games. Reboots, new console launches and the subject of DRM among other things. Plus it was a year I personally learned that retro gaming is just as important as modern games, game collecting can become a full time and expensive hobby, branching out into more different ways of gaming can be fun plus much more. So it was an interesting choice of picks when I sat down to write almost all the games I played this year, and what I would ultimately pick as my favorite ones of 2013.
While most people/sites will only put games that were released this year, I don’t get to everything as soon as I would like too. Plus being a game collector and retro gamer, I sometimes discover and play games that were released years ago. So this list will contain the best and noticeable games that I played during the year in no particular order. Except the final game which is marked as my Game of the Year of 2013.
Cover albums are always interesting. Listening to a bands’ interpretation on a song could either be faithful to the original, or be their own unique style. When a band decides to do a collection of cover songs, it always makes for a more interesting album.
And that is exactly what metal music legends Anthrax have decided to do by choosing the 6 of the total 8 songs in their latest EP release “Anthems”. Taking a small selection of songs from a choice of different bands makes this a very good, yet somewhat brief, experience.
It’s worth a billion dollars. Literally. But what it is about Instagram that makes people believe that by taking a picture of a glass of water, or the shadow of a chair, that they all of the sudden have photographic talent? Well… Maybe that’s exactly what it is. It makes people believe.
(I write this strictly from the point of view of a fan of the Resident Evil series)
Paul W.S. Anderson holds a special place in my heart. And that would be at the deepest, darkest, blackest part of it. After watching the newest trailer for the Resident Evil: Retribution movie, I am thoroughly convinced that he has completely lost touch with what the Resident Evil series is about. And that’s even assuming he had it was at the beginning.
